the studio space…

If you have followed along with me, you will know that I live in a constant renovation home… a solid brick 1965 GEM.

The one thing I have learned about living in a perpetual construction zone is this…

Everything is shuffled and bustled… CONSTANTLY. When we begin to finish a new corner of the house, all the stuff is crammed into other corners of the house. Sigh. It is seriously making my mind go bonkers. The mess!!

Which is why I put my foot down and claimed the office as my own space. I dragged my hubby’s desk out and shoved it into a corner of our bedroom and set to work. I splurged on wallpaper, painted the walls and created some order. I must say, it may have been the wisest thing I have done thus far…

A space dedicated to MAKING and invites ease every time I enter it. In the past, the kitchen table was my hearty companion and my work had to be cleared away and set up again on repeat….

My heart is so GLAD and I feel like I need to pinch myself sometimes. I filled the walls with favourite photos and relics, all the things that give me that grounded feeling right in the centre of my chest. My house may be in renovation shambles with no floors, walls to build, and broken cabinets… but I have one space where the mess is at least creative one!

In theory, this office is a temporary fix… The basement has a large room with GLORIOUS sunlight just waiting for me (I swear, it literally CALLS for me somedays)…. However, it is currently FULL of all the said STUFF and requires some hefty renovations. One day at a time!!!
